Arvalam Waterfalls
Being a favorite among the movie makers, Arvalam waterfalls are truly a magical sight. Situated around 2 kilometers from Sinquim and 8 kilometers from Bicholim, these waterfalls drop down from a height of 50 meters and make a lake beneath. The lake is preferred by many a seasoned swimmers and those who enjoy getting into a lake for the fun of it. There is also a government park which allows people to enjoy the falls from a distance.
Another attraction near the waterfalls is the Arvalam caves which add antiquity to this place and make it all the more interesting. The best season to visit it is post monsoon, when the water gushes through the falls and impresses you with its magnificence.
Dhudhsagar Waterfalls
‘Dhudhsagar’, translated as sea of milk, gets its name because of the white froth made, when water falls from a high altitude of 2000 feet. The Dhudhsagar water falls are considered one of the highest in India and counted among the 100 highest waterfalls in the world.
The numerous streams that spring out of the source and continue on the wooded mountain of the Western Ghats. These falls attract enormous admirers from around the globe. The best season to visit these falls is post monsoon, when the beauty of this place is at its peak. Dhudhsagar lies 60 kms from Panaji and 10 kms from Colem Railway station from where buses or taxis can be taken.
